Top 5 Wednesday: Books That Would Make Good Video Games

Top 5 Wednesday is a group on Goodreads that was created by Lainey from gingerreadslainey and is now run by Sam from Thoughts on Tomes. This week is all about books that should be make into video games! I love video games, I’m not super great or anything but I do enjoy them. Some of my favourites are Animal Crossing and Super Mario Bros.

1. And Then There Were None Agatha Christie

Okay so this is one of my favourite books- I feel like I talk about it all the time: on here, to my friends, to my coworkers but hear me out!

How it would work is- you could play through as all of the different characters trying to avoid your fate, get off the island, save as many people as you can and figure out who the murderer is, it could also work where you walk through with new characters so you don’t know who’s going to be killed off next, finally (the most morbid) is you could play as the killer- trying to successfully plan your traps and murders.

2. The Hunger Games Suzanne Collins

How it would work is- you play as a nominee (or volunteer) for your district and basically try to survive the longest. I can imagine the vast playing field the unexpected weather conditions and competitive players.

3. Six of Crows Leigh Bardugo

How it would work is- you join the Kaz and the others on their adventures as a Dreg, Grisha etc. You would play along through their fight scenes and make strategies to pull of the heist!

4. In a Dark, Dark Wood Ruth Ware

How it would work is- you could play through the hen cabin weekend- kind of like a reenactment, but in the game there would be more clues and scares to keep you surprised and by the end you can solve what’s going on.

5. Life of Pi Yann Martel

How it would work is- kind of like a survivor game, playing as Pi trying to survive life at sea with a tiger. As the game goes on you hit certain checkpoints like finding a turtle, finding a mysterious island, going home

What are your Top 5?

Until next time, Emily
